About Valery Soltis
Valery Soltis is an RYT-500, ERYT-200 and YACEP- Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. She is currently offering Whole Being private sessions, addressing the five Koshas and incorporating bioenergetic healing. Her group classes are gentle, mindful, restorative and challenging at the same time.
She is currently offering workshops focusing on the Root Chakra and grounding, using Anodea Judith's books, Chakra Yoga and The Sevenfold Journey as a basis for home study and further exploration.
Valery began practicing yoga 18 years ago while she was pregnant with her first child to help relieve sore hips. At that time, she could already feel not only the physical benefits, but also the soothing effects on her mind. After a shoulder injury in 2008 while living in South Korea, is when her real yoga journey began. While living in South Korea, she completed a 500-hr training at Ayurveda Yoga Academy.
Since returning to the US, still dealing with shoulder pain, she decided to study SomaYoga, which is a gentle style of yoga geared towards those with Chronic Pain. She completed a 200-hr training with Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Through this practice, she realized that her shoulder pain was not only physical, there was an emotional connection. Bridging this connection through SomaYoga helped her find a road to working with both the physical and emotional injury.
Upon completing the SomaYoga training, she still desired to go deeper into the study of yoga, so she decided to attend an advanced 300-hr training at Asheville Yoga Center. Valery teaches a holistic approach to yoga, balancing the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of this ancient practice.
About Lost in Sensation Therapeutic Yoga
Group yoga classes are extremely beneficial and Valery encourages everyone to attend group classes for support, inspiration and ongoing maintenance of the body, mind and spirit. In addition to attending group classes, Valery highly recommends trying at least one private session. It is a very different experience, as the energy work and emotional aspect is much stronger and individualized in a private session. The benefits of private yoga sessions will expedite your yoga practice and healing process exponentially. The moment you enter Valery's private yoga space, it becomes a sacred space that is being held just for you- free of judgement and expectations and full of encouragement and understanding.
With a therapeutic approach to yoga, there are no preset answers or movements for a particular issue. Internal pain sensations are often referred from other areas of the body being out of balance or from unexpressed emotions that are trapped within the body. The goal is to look for answers and develop a practice by addressing the whole person: postural habits, balance of musculature, tension patterns, previous trauma, chakra blockages, diet, lifestyle, stressors, responses to stress, self-care and self-talk.
A Typical Private Session looks like this: After gathering information about your physical pain, limitations, posture, mental and emotional state, we will begin the practice of therapeutic yoga using a variety of techniques, including: Restorative yoga, SomaYoga, Viniyoga, gentle hands on touch, bioenergetic movements, breath work, guided meditation, guided relaxation, and Hatha yoga postures that address the individual’s specific health concerns and/or limitations. We will begin subsequent sessions with a check-in, determining what you would like to get out of the session. For instance, you may want to minimize pain in a targeted area, calm your mind, or seek emotional support for feelings such as fear, shame, or guilt that may be trapped in the body. Since each body and mind are unique, each yoga practice will be unique as well.
